Adopt a Maltese / Silky Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Boo is special Maltese/Silky Terrier mix born 1/25/12 and weighs 13.25 lbs. Boo is a very loving guy that enjoys being with you and getting loved on. Boo doesn’t like small children so we think that he has been hurt by one, so we recommend children over the age of 10 years old that won’t try to take his cow hooves away from him or any type of food. Boo also wants to eat what you eat and will push to try and get your food but he does know the word NO. Boo plays very well with the other dogs but doesn’t like cats at all. Boo likes his toys and won’t share with you or with another dog, so he will growl at you and if you just pet him then he calms down. Boo is crate trained and sleeps through the night without any issues he also likes to sleep with you but doesn’t want another dog in bed with him, so if you do have another dog then they both can’t be in bed with you. Boo enjoys his walks with you and also just sitting with you on the couch and being petted. He will bark and cry when he can’t see you, so he does have some separation anxiety, just put a cow hoove inside his crate and he calms down. Boo would be a great companion for a stay at home parent and/or a senior. We’re not sure of his history but this guy really wants to be loved on and be with someone that will be around for him.

If you are considering adopting a dog through HALO Here are some helpful hints:

Bring pictures of your yard to show secure fencing. Most of our dogs require a 6 foot fenced yard. Yards must be cleared of any fox tail weeds. The adoption donation is cash or check.

We will adopt out to Contra Costa County residences only so that we may follow up on the dogs well-being to make sure that they are happy and thriving.

We do adopt small dogs to apartments or condo and need to see pictures of the patio or balcony area. If you rent, please bring copy of your lease to show you can have pets and any size restrictions.

We do not adopt to homes with children under the age of five (5) unless we know the history of the dog with young children. All Children MUST be present at adoption. If you own a dog and are looking for a friend please bring your dog with you so that they can be introduced to make sure that they will get along.
